Job Description

JOB TITLE:
Academic Assistant - Music

DEPARTMENT AND LOCATION OF JOB:
FVCC Kalispell Campus Music Department
ELIGIBILITY:
Students must be Work Study Eligible (as determined by Financial Aid)
START DATE:
This position will start Fall Semester 2025

LENGTH OF EMPLOYMENT:
Academic Calendar Year 2022/2023
PAY RANGE:
$13.00 - $14.00 per hour depending on experience
WORK SCHEDULE:
Flexible schedule between Monday and Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; however student will work both student and faculty concerts (6-8 per semester). Concerts may occur on Friday evenings Saturday evenings or Friday afternoons. This position may work up to 19 hours per week.

DRESS CODE:
Casual with appropriate coverage for day-to-day work. Concert stage managing will require all-black appropriate attire.

POSITION PURPOSE/ROLE:
Under the minimal supervision performs general academic functions in support of a specific course faculty/staff member or department.
POSITION DUTIES:
  • Files organizes and maintains the music library and music filing cabinets
  • Assists with concert stage management during student and faculty concerts
  • Assists with concert programs staffs brochure/information tables assists with set-ups and teardowns; and sound light and scene changes
  • Assists in Musical Theatre production set-ups and teardowns during rehearsals including replacing batteries for stand lights etc.
  • Assists Music Faculty in recruiting to local high school music programs
  • Runs errands on campus and hangs up posters as needed
  • May perform other like duties as requested
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Current FVCC student enrolled in a minimum of 6 credits per semester and
  • Ability to work independently with a minimal level of supervision as well as in a team environment and
  • Ability to problem-solve and be self-motivated; and
  • Possesses basic office/technology skills and working knowledge of general office practices and procedures; and
  • Ability and willingness to provide quality customer service; and
  • Effective organizational skills and interpersonal skills; and
  • Cooperative spirit in working with peers supervisors students and public
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience as a Music Theory Tutor
STUDENT SKILL DEVELOPMENT:
Communication customer service critical thinking and effective reasoning professionalism technology stage-managing organization recruitment
PREDICTED OUTCOME:
Practical competence customer service critical thinking collaboration communicating effectively technological competence demonstrating professionalism
STUDENT EMPLOYMENT GUIDELINES:
  • Students must be enrolled in a minimum of six (6) credits for fall or spring semester to qualify for student employment.
  • Students may not work beyond 19 hours per week during semester.
  • Student workers shall be actively engaged; no use of cell phones (except in case of emergency) or social media.
  • Student workers shall demonstrate a commitment to the job with adherence to work schedule effective communication/interpersonal skills and quality customer service skills to be a representative of FVCC.
