We are currently looking for aRisk and Safety Communications specialistto join ourCommunications and EngagementFunction within theEnablement Group.

This is a full-time opportunity on a permanent basis. The role will be based in 10 South Colonnade Canary Wharf London E14 4PU. Please be aware that this role can only be worked in the UK and not overseas.We are open to requests for flexible working. Please discuss this with the recruiting manager before accepting an appointment.

Government departments and agencies are working towards implementing a minimum 60% attendance in office sites.

We are currently implementing a flexible hybrid way of working with a minimum of 8 days per month working on site to enable the collaboration and contact with partners and stakeholders needed to deliver MHRA business. Attendance on site is driven by business needs so depending on the nature of the role this can flex up to 12 days a month with the remainder of time worked either remotely or in the office. Some roles will need to be on site more regularly.

The MHRA Communications and Engagement Function is a multi-award-winning team that has a consistent track-record of achievement and providing value for money. Our focus is to support the Agency to deliver its business outcomes by putting patients and the public at the centre of all our work. We are organised in the following teams: News & Media Communications Patient and Public Stakeholder Engagement and Customer Experience. This role is in our Communications team.

The Risk and Safety Communications Specialist reports to the Head of Risk and Safety Communications and is integral to the Agencys risk communications function including the team ensuring high quality service provision from the team including providing clear strategic direction and priorities.Playing a key a role in delivering our Improving Safety Communications Strategy for the Agency.

Whats the role

  • Risk communication lead for regulatory and emerging issues. Ensuring timely responses and mitigating any risks using various risk communication channels to inform healthcare professionals and patients.

  • Ensure the risk communications strategy is implemented delivered and responds to emerging situations with solutions.

  • Maintain and nurture key stakeholders to help disseminate messaging and ensure effective communications are achieved.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities and Results Areas

  • Act as a lead communications specialist and develop and deliver communication strategies to inform the public and healthcare professionals in a managed way of any new issues or risks.
  • Manage lead and maintain risk product information channels to enable the public and healthcare professionals are well informed of health issues.
  • Map and engage risk communication stakeholders and nurture these relationships to communicate effectively.
  • Act as a project manager for projects and key operational Groups inthe Agency to ensure we deliver effective risk communication and monitor the progress of the Improving Safety Communications strategy.
  • Monitor and proactively establish mechanisms for engaging the public healthcare professionals and other key stakeholders with a focus on behaviour change and evaluation.
  • Lead development and delivery of risk communications strategies and content and create key messages in response to emerging and established risks.

  • Drive enhancements to available channels and systems to support risk communications.

  • Proactively build relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective delivery of risk communications.
  • Plan and develop engaging content that responds to business priorities and our drive to be accessible to all audiences.
