REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS/SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position does not have any direct reports.

POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for delivery of comprehensive nursing care to patients undergoing non-invasive cardiac testing. This nurse leads the health care team as directed by the supervising proceduralist in accordance with the philosophy and policies of Promedica Toledo hospital. The RN accepts individual responsibility and accountability ensuring decisions made are based on patient and family centered care philosophy utilizing evidenced based practices and focused on safety customer satisfaction and outcomes.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Demonstrates professional commitment and behavior to patients team members and the organization by supporting our mission and values and providing quality care in a safe comfortable and therapeutic environment. The RN accepts responsibility for the complete and accurate documentation of care delivered and responsibility for coordination of care among all disciplines providing service to patients and utilizes appropriate delegation in the delivery of care.
  • Assess the patients current health status through the application of clinical knowledge and skills obtained through education and experience. May interview patients family members or others and review existing records. Utilizes and prioritizes the data collected by other health care team members.
  • Performs a physical assessment to gather objective data to determine the patients needs alterations limitations and assets. Evaluates patient for appropriateness of procedure.
  • Utilizes all available information with regard to age-specific needs to treat teach counsel and support consulting with other health care professionals as appropriate.
  • Provide nursing care to patients undergoing cardiac testing such as stress tests and echocardiograms. Monitors vitals and patient response during and post procedure.
  • Must be able to quickly and accurately recognize abnormal cardiac rhythms.
  • Demonstrates skill competency and safety in performing the technical procedures and treatments required to meet the nursing care needs of the patient.
  • Starts IVs and administers medications according to policy. Provides education and instruction related to individualized needs including identified learning needs.
  • Performs a variety of direct care functions and interventions. Documents promptly concisely and precisely.
  • Maintain crash cart and medication stock at each Cardiac Testing Center.
  • Serves as an organizational liason which may include serving as a point of contact for physicians and ancillary staff.
  • Collect and provide data from all Cardiac Testing Centers to maintain compliance with regulatory agency requirements and complies with all personnel policies.
  • Responsible for continuous professional development and contributes to the development and implementation of department goals and improvement actions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduate of an accredited RN program.

Skills: Must be able to understand directions communicate and respond to inquiries; requires effective interpersonal skills. Must be able to move about the department and between workstations. Must be able to demonstrate good judgment in a fast-paced environment. Must be able to retrieve information from the computers.

Years of Experience: NA

License: Current license to practice in the State of Ohio (or Michigan if applicabe). Certification: BLS and ACLS.

Physical Demands: Must be able to frequently move lift or carry light to heavy materials or equipment. Must be able to tolerate possible exposure to hazardous material blood borne pathogens and body fluids. Must be able to tolerate long periods of sitting or standing.
