The Dangerous Goods (DG) Specialist ensures the safe and compliant acceptance documentation and handling of hazardous materials in accordance with IATA airline and regulatory standards.
WHAT ITS LIKE TO WORK AS A DANGEROUS GOODS SPECIALIST
- Receive and inspect dangerous goods shipments to ensure compliance with IATA DGR and airline-specific requirements
- Verify shippers declarations labels markings and packaging integrity for each DG shipment
- Ensure all accepted DG shipments comply with IATA ICAO TSA and local aviation authority regulations
- Reject non-compliant shipments and report discrepancies to supervisors and relevant departmentsCoordinate with warehouse staff and ramp teams for proper segregation storage and loading of DG cargo
- Maintain accurate records of DG shipments inspections rejections and incident reports
- Exemplify PrimeFlight customer service and safety standards
- Perform any additional duties as assigned by management

QUALIFICATIONS
- 18 years of age or older
- Eligible to work in the United States
- Communicate effectively in English (reading writing speaking)
- Must have a valid state-issued drivers license with an acceptable driving record
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional training in aviation logistics or dangerous goods preferred
- Current IATA Category 6 Dangerous Goods Certification (mandatory)
- Minimum 12 years of experience in cargo operations preferably with dangerous goods handling
- Knowledge of cargo handling systems and documentation processes (e.g. Cargospot Champ etc.) is a plus
- Ability to access and interpret information in print and electronically including the use of electronic devices including IPads/Tablets Computers and Mobile Devices
- Effectively communicate with colleagues and clients both in-person and through electronic means
- Pass a background check and drug screen
- Eligibility to acquire needed credentials and clearances (FAA TSA Port Authority U.S. Customs and U.S. Postal- as applicable)
- Airlines are 24/7 so we need our team members to be flexible to work various shifts including nights weekends and holidays
