Job Description
Job Title: Cost Accountant
Location: Cleveland OH
Work Schedule: Full-Time
Work Type: Onsite
We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Cost Accountant to join our finance this role youll play a key part in analyzing and reporting cost data supporting strategic financial decisions and helping drive operational efficiency across the business.
Responsibilities:
- Analyze cost structures and pricing strategies to identify cost savings and profitability improvements
- Prepare and maintain standard cost reports and product cost analysis
- Monitor inventory levels investigate cost variances and recommend corrective actions
- Assist with budgeting forecasting and month-end close processes
- Record journal entries and ensure proper allocation of direct labor overhead and production costs
- Support internal audits and ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies
- Collaborate with operations supply chain and finance teams to improve reporting accuracy and cost transparency
Qualifications:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Accounting Finance or related field
- 3 years of experience in cost accounting financial analysis or manufacturing accounting required.
- Previous cost accounting experience in the food industry is REQUIRED.
- Background in a manufacturing or production environment
- Strong proficiency with ERP/accounting systems (e.g. Microsoft Dynamics Jet Reports) and Excel
- In-depth knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain financial data clearly to non-finance stakeholders
- CPA or CMA certification is a plus.
- Experience working with large datasets and complex financial models is preferred
