The HR Generalist will work with the HR Manager supporting over 500 employees in a unionized manufacturing setting and will be responsible for a broad spectrum of duties in direct support of employees in a 24/7 work environment. The HR Generalist will assist the HR Manager in all aspects of labor relations and recruiting.

Responsibilities

  • Sponsor and promote a safe work environment.
  • Assist in actively recruiting interviewing and onboarding all hourly positions.
  • Organize employee orientation and ensure a smooth onboarding process occurs for all employees and meets the company training requirements.
  • Manage the new hire probationary review process and follow-up on any action items as needed.
  • Maintain personnel information in the HR/payroll system ADP Vantage HCM and SuccessFactors.
  • Provide benefit information to employees during enrollment periods and assist in answering questions as needed.
  • Assist HR Manager with all aspects of labor relations including contract administration discipline investigations and administration grievance investigation etc.
  • Manage hourly payroll by reviewing timecards to ensure system accuracy in application of mill policies.
  • Coordinate with payroll team to ensure all ADP programming is accurate and update system as needed based on the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • Oversee and manage attendance policy administration corrective actions and leave of absence/FMLA administration.
  • Counsel employees on policies and procedures to ensure correct and consistent interpretation.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned at managements discretion.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree or Certificate in HR Management preferred
  • 5 years of previous experience in HR preferably in a unionized manufacturing environment
  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office Suite software particularly MS Word Excel and PowerPoint is required
  • Experience with ADP Vantage HCM and SuccessFactors is a plus
  • Highly organized with a high degree of attention to detail
  • Excellent time-management and interpersonal skills
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills required
  • Must possess a high degree of professionalism in handling confidential information
  • Ability to relate well to all employees and levels of management
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
