You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailAs an Unix Platform Support Engineer you are part of a 24/7 infrastructure services operations team that is responsible for incident operations problem investigation management and resolution and proactive maintenance in pursuit of extremely high uptime and rapid return to service. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to understand and address customer needs and react quickly to support and operations issues. The ideal candidate will be familiar with IT infrastructure platforms including Linux Cloud Compute and Storage
Provide specific technology operations support during assigned shift. Handle incident tickets speak with end-users work on problem tickets perform proactive maintenance and resolve critical operations issues rapidly and effectively.
Problem diagnosis and resolution.
Strong aptitude for learning new technologies and understanding how to utilize them in an operations environment.
Ability to follow standard operational principles and practices and use software management tools appropriately.
Creative approach to problem solving.
Ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently with competing deadlines.
Contribute to building infrastructure for new applications as well as hardware and OS lifecycle management
Willingness to work shifts some of which are off hours or on weekends or on holidays.
Technical Skill Requirements
Knowledge of Unix Operatings systems RHEL 7.x 8.x 9.x Solaris 9 &10
Knowledge of Virtualization and Cloud technologies such as Solaris containers Vmware Hyper V Kubernetes Openshift / Rancher/ Docker AWS OCI Azure etc.
Proficiency in scripting languages e.g. Python Ansible and PowerShell to automate routine tasks and streamline operations. This includes writing scripts for deployment monitoring and maintenance activities.
Basic understanding of TCP/IP NFS SSH SCP FTP SUDO Git.
Fundamantal knowledge on how DNS DHCP SMTP NIS LDAP NTP works
Should be able to look at the error logs config files and understand the problem symptom and route the incident/problem ticket to appropriate teams
Knowledge on how to list stop and restart the processes
Experience on editing tools like vi and be able to modify the files as per instructions
Basic shell scripting knowledge to collect the data from logs filter the outputs
Knowledge on how to run the perfomance tools like vmstat prstat and top to monitor the system performance
Experience on working with any commercial performance and system monitoring tools like Zenoss Splunk Logic Monitor and understanding the performance reports and alerts triggered.
Good working knowledge of ITSM tools such as SeviceNow
Good to have knowledge of NetApp Storage
Full-Time
