POSITION: (Grant Funded) Health Teacher Pocomoke Middle School and Snow Hill Middle School - Split

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:
- Implements an engaging health education curriculum for students in grades 4 through 8.
- Teach students various health topics including nutrition physical fitness personal hygiene mental health and disease prevention.
- Fosters a supportive inclusive classroom environment that promotes student participation and active learning.
- Utilizes various teaching strategies and resources to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.
- Assesses student progress provides feedback and maintains accurate student performance records.
- Collaborates with colleagues and families to ensure students receive a well-rounded education that integrates health education across the curriculum.
- Stays up-to-date with the latest developments in health education and incorporate evidence-based practices into teaching.
- Communicates with parents and school counselors on pupil progress.
- Participates in curriculum and other developmental programs.
- Participates in faculty committees and the sponsorship of student activities.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must hold active or be eligible for Maryland Teaching Certificate with an endorsement in health education. We also welcome individuals to apply who may have a Virginia Delaware or Pennsylvania Teaching Certificate with an endorsement in health education. We may work with individuals who are certified in PE but have a health education endorsement or minor.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the Maryland State Health Education Framework.
- Ability to provide instruction that reflects multiple perspectives and multicultural education.
- Ability to infuse technology into the curriculum.
- Demonstrate effective interpersonal and communication skills with children and adults
DUTY YEAR AND SALARY:
This is a 188-day appointed teaching position. Salary and benefits are based on the appropriate teachers scale and in accordance with the Teachers Negotiated Agreement.
