ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT - GROUP 3
Full time - 52 Week position37.5 hours per week
Under the direction of the Principal the Administrative Assistantperformsrecord keeping and administrative secretarial work in supporting the office activities within the school; and all other related work as required.
EXAMPLES OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school graduation with courses in office procedures and business practices; Associates degree in related field desirable; two years of progressively responsible office experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge: Thorough knowledge of office procedures practices and terminology. Good working knowledge of the use of office and data processing equipment business arithmetic American business English and spelling. Basic knowledge of accounting techniques.
Ability: Ability to organize time and to work independently and accomplish tasks. Ability to maintain detailed statistics records and clerical records. Ability to deal effectively and tactfully with the public. Ability to maintain confidential information. Ability to compose correspondence and to prepare type and proofread reports as to form and logic flow. Ability to communicate effectively with the public coworkers other employees other departments officials and other agencies. Ability and willingness to learn job-related skills. Ability to satisfy attendance requirements.
Skill: Superior administrative and secretarial skills. Expertise and skill in utilizing personal computers popular word processing database and spreadsheet applications. Excellent customer service skills.
SALARY/BENEFITS: As listed in the Agreementbetween the Burlington School Committee and Burlington School Office Personnel.
