Qualities of a Success Candidate:
- A genuine love for working with children and a strong commitment to their holistic development. They should prioritize the childs individuality independence and self-directed learning fostering an environment that supports these values.
- The ability to guide children through their learning journey with patience allowing them to explore and make discoveries at their own pace. They should also be flexible in adjusting their teaching methods to meet the unique needs of each child.
- Strong interpersonal skills fostering positive relationships with children parents and other staff members. They should be able to work collaboratively promoting a harmonious learning environment.
As the Fine Arts Coordinator your core responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:
- Plan and deliver engaging visual art lessons for students in grades K-8.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate art instruction with ongoing curriculum particularly in cultural studies (geography history and science).
- Support classroom teachers with art components related to the biennial Cultural Fair/Exhibition of Learning.
- Collect and curate individual student artwork throughout the year for inclusion in the school-wide End-of-Year Art Show.
- Develop and facilitate the creation of collaborative art pieces for each classroom.
- Maintain and organize art supplies and materials.
- Foster an appreciation of the visual arts while promoting creativity and self-expression.
Job Goal: To provide high-quality art instruction through a part-time position that includes direct teaching dedicated preparation time and collaboration with classroom teachers to support cross-curricular integration culminating in a student art show at the end of the year.
Essential Skills and Competencies: While we will consider a broad range of backgrounds the ideal candidate would have the following qualifications/experience:
Minimum Requirements:
- Complete at least two years of study at an institution of higher education (equal to 60 semester hours); or obtain an associates degree (or higher); or meet a rigorous standard of quality and demonstrate through a formal state or local academic assessment:
- Exemplary work habits verified by previous employers.
Desired Qualifications:
- Valid Michigan teaching certificate with endorsements in appropriate grade and subject levels meeting the requirements of the Michigan Department of Education and federal guidelines. Except as otherwise provided by law the academy shall use certificated teachers according to the state board rule.
- Excellent verbal and written expression using standard grammar and vocabulary.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Recent teaching experience coursework or other activity in the area of primary instruction
- Demonstrated knowledge of current instructional strategies appropriate for students at the specified grade level
- Desire and ability to work with students at the specified age level with diverse backgrounds and levels of ability toward accomplishing their educational goals.
