About the unit
16 ORs comprised of multidisciplinary teams; consistently recognized by US News & World Report as national leaders in Orthopedics and Neurosurgery. As a Level 1 Trauma Center our dedicated team is expertly trained in the management of acute and urgent trauma as well as electively scheduled procedures for both the pediatric and adult populations. We set a standard of excellence in Orthopedics and Neurosurgery with access to advanced technologies including Surgical Theatre robotic assisted endoscopic and minimally invasive surgeries.

Scope of work
The Certified Surgical Assistant assists the surgeon in the performance of approved surgical procedures and who works under the direct supervision of and by the request of the operating surgeon.
Qualifications
High school diploma Required
Associates Degree or equivalent Preferred. Required years of relevant experience in lieu of associates degree may be considered
Completion of a Surgical Tech First Assistant or Certified Surgical Assistant Program Required
Must receive certification as a Certified Surgical Assistant Certification (CSA) through the NCCSA or Certified Surgical First Assistant Certification (CSFA) through the NBSTSA Upon Hire Required
2 years of relevant experience; Surgical assisting experience Preferred
Certified (CST) AST Association of Surgical Technologist Preferred
Certified (CST) NBSTSA National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting Preferred
Certified (CSFA) NBSTSA National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting Upon Hire Required Or
At least one Certification from preferred list:
Certified (CSA) NCCSA National Commission for the Certification of Surgical Assistants Upon Hire Required Or
Certified (SA-C) ABSA America Board Surgical Assistant Upon Hire Required
AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Upon Hire Required
AHA ACLS Adv Cardiovascular Life Support Upon Hire Preferred
