Job Description
TITLE OF POSITION:
Sub Separate ASD Special Education Teacher
LOCATION:
Orleans Elementary School
DESCRIPTIVE STATEMENT
OF POSITION:
- Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for students.
- Adapt teaching methods and instructional material to meet students varying needs and interests
- Provide ABA therapy as directed by a BCBA
- Provide direct instruction in academic subjects as well as social emotional and life skills
- Utilize a variety of sensory-friendly teaching tools and techniques
- Create a structured and predictable classroom environment
- Collaborate with special education staff speech therapists other professionals and BCBA Consultants
- Maintain accurate and timely records of students progress and behavior
- Participate in ongoing professional development related to autism and special education
- Communicate effectively with parents and caregivers to provide support and resources
- Experience with de-escalation strategies and willingness to be Safety Care Trained
- Ability to provide support and guidance to paraeducators to work towards students IEP goals and objectives
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Massachusetts Certification in Elementary Education in Severe Special Needs
- Masters degree preferred
- Experience working with children on the autism spectrum
- Familiarity with various autism-specific teaching strategies and interventions
- Strong understanding of sensory processing issues and accommodations
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Experience with assistive technology and communication devices
- Knowledge of behavior management techniques
- Ability to create and maintain a structured learning environment
- Ability to modify curriculum to meet individual student needs
- Capacity to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team
- Commitment to ongoing professional development
SALARY:
Per prevailing contract
