There are four precincts in Harris County. The four elected commissioners along with an elected county judge serve as members of Harris County Commissioners Court the administrative head of the countys government. Commissioner Rodney Ellis represents the constituents of Precinct One.
With approximately 1.17 million residents Harris County Precinct One is a diverse urban precinct that covers 363 square miles. Precinct Ones multi-racial multi-ethnic population is roughly 33 percent African American 38 percent Latino 21 percent Anglo 6 percent Asian and 2 percent other or multiple One stretches south to Brazoria County and reaches into eastern and northern sections of Harris County. The Precincts territory includes a large section of Downtown Houston including the Downtown Harris County Courthouse Complex Toyota Center Minute Maid Park and the BBVA Compass Stadium. Other notable landmarks include the 263-acre NRG Park Complex and the renowned Texas Medical Center. The Precinct is also the higher educational home to Houston Community College Rice University Texas Southern University the University of Houston and the University of St. Thomas. Precinct One manages more than 21 parks 10 community centers numerous hike-and-bike trails three maintenance service centers and several area offices all of which provide an array of services to Precinct One residents.

The Office of Commissioner Rodney Ellis (OCRE) is seeking a talented Executive Assistant. This role reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer and supports the Chief Operating Officer the Deputy Chief Operating Officer for Administration and Policy the Deputy Chief Operating Officer for Strategy and Programs and the Law and Compliance Officer.
The Executive Assistant will assist with a variety of standard administrative functions along with unique responsibilities needed for the four leaders to which this role reports as well as perform administrative and other tasks effectively and efficiently while modeling and utilizing excellent process management and critical thinking skills that help to improve our services continuously. This position requires consistency and flexibility while maintaining the confidentiality of high-level operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provides executive office support; Serves as liaison/point of contact for the Chief Operating Officer (COO) Deputy COO for Administration and Policy Deputy COO for Strategy and Programs and Law and Compliance Officer; Communicates effectively at a high-level; Ensures the highest level of discretion in providing a comprehensive range of administrative support.
Coordinate meetings schedule meetings circulate pre-meeting materials and track deliverables for the COO Deputy COO for Administration and Policy Deputy COO for Strategy and Programs and Law and Compliance Officer and including for high-priority special projects including the OCRE Strategic Plan the Parks Plan the Transportation Plan the Emergency Management Plan OCRE Policy and Procedure Development Process etc.
Provide administrative support to the Law and Compliance Officer for Public Information Act (PIA) requests assisting with tasks such as document collection organization and preparation to ensure compliance with the PIA and the protection of confidential data
Order inventory and manage all special supplies and business cards. Assist with the supplies budget mgmt.
Support with planning managing and completing paperwork associated with travel for COO Deputy COO for Administration and Policy Deputy COO for Strategy and Programs and Law and Compliance Officer
Support the Deputy Chief Operating Officer of Programs of Strategy and Programs with documenting emergency management training requirements in collaboration with Human Resources.
Other duties as assigned
Education:
Bachelors Degree in a relevant field.
Experience:
Minimum of three (3) years of high -level administrative support role
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Outstanding organizational and time management skills with proven ability to organize prioritize and successfully manage multiple and shifting priorities projects and deadlines.
Ability to work effectively efficiently and independently with minimal supervision
Proven ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with tact and discretion
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Proven self-starter with a strong work ethic self-motivated resourceful conscientious punctual and energetic
Team player flexible adaptable personable and able to work well with others; takes direction and fulfills responsibilities under stress or pressure with minimal direct supervision
Strong computer skills including QuickBooks PeopleSoft Outlook Microsoft Word Excel and PowerPoint
Work Environment:
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role uses standard office equipment such as computers phones printers and copiers
Physical Demands:
This role is a standard office role which requires remaining stationary for long periods of time. At times files or boxes must be transported weighing up to 15lbs.
