The Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE) is seeking an individual with technical expertise in facilities planning and construction management to serve as the Facilities Planning Officer supporting the Facilities and Construction Division.
Under administrative direction the Facilities Planning Officer plans organizes directs and supervises the facilities planning activities; and assures that adequate facilities are available for program operations: serves as a liaison for Los Angeles County Office of Education to delegate agencies and other stakeholders in matters of facilities and construction.
The Well Qualified Candidate Will Possess the Following
Knowledge:
Engineering and architectural principles including design cost estimating and construction techniques
Commercial/institutional real estate management
Principles practices and techniques of organization management and personnel management
New technology applicable to assigned areas of responsibility
Principles and techniques of budget management
Principles of contract laws purchasing and contract administration
Federal state and local laws and codes applicable to school districts non-profit organizations and building construction
Labor Compliance Program and/or Davis Bacon requirements
Fundamental concepts of employment laws codes and regulations including EEO FLSA FMLA and Cal/OSHA and applicable provisions of collective bargaining agreements

Required Education and ExperienceEducation:A bachelors degree with major coursework in architecture construction management engineering or other field closely related to the job requirements of this classification from an institution of higher learning recognized by the Council of Higher Education Accreditation. Foreign degrees and credit units require translation and equivalency established by an agency recognized by the Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
Experience:Five years of experience in facilities planning architecture civil engineering or construction management including two years of supervisory experience.
Additional Requirements:A valid Californias drivers license and availability of private transportation or ability to provide transportation between job sites is required. Some positions may require Playground Safety Inspector Certificate during the probationary period. A valid Certificate of Registration as a licensed Architect by the California State Board of Architectural Examiners Certified Construction Manager (CCM) credential by the Construction Manager Certificate Institute (CMCI) and/or Certified Construction Contract Administrator (CCCA) credential issued by the Construction Specification Institute (CSI) is desirable.
