Are you ready to ignite talent and leave your mark on the field The University of Maine at Farmington (UMF) is searching for a spirited driven Assistant Coach to energize our Field Hockey program!

The field hockey season traditionally runs from August 15th through November 15th with a non-traditional fall season from March 15th through May 15th. This is a part-time temporary position that will compensate up to $3500.

Essential Duties

  • Participates in games and practices including organization and implementation of daily practices.
  • Coaches in competition and training.
  • Prepares film breakdown and analysis; presents analysis to team members.
  • Plans and prepares for games and training.
  • Assists in organizing team travel and meals.
  • Assists with scouting recruitment and strategy development.
  • Supports player and leadership development.
  • Contributes to strength and conditioning program including one-on-one strength and conditioning work with student athletes.
  • Provides support and encouragement to student athletes.
  • Recruits and retains talented athletes; builds relationships with prospective student athletes and their families through email phone and one-on-one meetings.
  • Understands NCAA and North Atlantic Conference (NAC) rules compliance and laws.
  • Ensures the safety and well-being of student athletes.
  • Serves as an effective role model for college-age students.
  • Assists with the day-to-day operations of the Field Hockey program.
  • Provides effective communication to the head coach.
  • Collaborates effectively with other Department of Athletics team members.
  • Attends and participates in department trainings.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid drivers license (in good standing based on UMS standards)
  • Availability for practices and weekend competitive schedule
  • Experience with the skills offield hockey

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree
  • Collegiate competitive experience/coaching
  • Sports recruiting experience
