The position of Attendance Specialist is done for the purpose of tracking recording and reporting student attendance at a secondary school including significant interaction with students staff parents and the public.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: (These duties are a representative sample; position assignments may vary.)
Tracks records and reports student attendance using current technology.
Provides and receives a variety of information to and from students parents teachers counselors administrators and outside agencies regarding student attendance matters.
Maintains attendance-related files and records; prepares reports; performs data entry.
Provides a variety of office support to the school; provides back-up and peak-load assistance to office staff.
Trains and supervises the work of student assistants; assigns grades.
Cares for ill or injured students as they are sent to the clinic; dispenses medications according to established procedures.
Supervises student conduct in lunchroom and lunch activities.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:
Reports directly to and is supervised by Building Adminitrator received direction from Office Manager.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (positions in this class typically require):
Required:
High school graduation or equivalent and two years of office or customer service experience including records maintenance.
Preferred:
ASB Bookkeeping and Accounting experience preferred.
LICENSING REQUIREMENTS (positions in this class typically require):
Valid first aid and CPR certification if assigned to health clinic.
KNOWLEDGE (position requirements at entry):
A variety of computer software applications.
Required Skill in:
Keyboarding data entry retrieval and word processing.
Oral communication.
Maintaining accurate records.
SKILLS (position requirements at entry):
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Ability to organize and prioritize work.
Ability to maintain positive relationships with students staff parents and the public.
Ability to learn current attendance technology.
Ability to work effectively as member of a team.

Ability to perform all duties in accordance with all applicable Board policies and district and legal requirements
Ability to meet and maintain punctuality and attendance expectations
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Positions in this class typically require: stooping kneeling crouching reaching standing walking pushing pulling lifting finger dexterity grasping talking hearing seeing and repetitive motions.
Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts odors chemicals extreme temperatures inadequate lighting workspace restrictions and intense noises.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
AISPrange C $29.51 to $30.87/hour (starting pay is $29.51/hour) 40 hours per week (M-F 7:30am to 4:00pm) for 192-day annual assignment based on negotiated collective bargaining agreement. Medical dental vision long-term disability and life-insurance eligibility is based upon 630 hours worked within a school year. Retirement provided through Washington State Department of Retirement Systems.
