Wage-Hour Technician located in Juneau!

This position is in the General Government Unit (GGU) at a Range 12.


What You Will Be Doing:
This position assists investigators by performing a variety of duties to ensure compliance with state and federal labor laws. The incumbent researches and applies knowledge of labor laws to audit on-line and hard copy payroll submissions for compliance processes contractor notices and payments prepares case files and conducts preliminary follow up enforcement actions as necessary. There is a great deal of interaction with the public as you explain wage and hour laws on the phone and in person and conduct monthly educational seminars.

This position assists in the enforcement of Alaska labor laws to ensure that workers are lawfully compensated and safeguarded from unfair practices. The technician accomplishes this through the enforcement of minimum wage prevailing wage and overtime regulations child labor laws and public contract laws. As a technician you will provide critical support to the team as you provide basic information to the public and assist with program forms notarizing signatures and making referrals to investigators and other departments or agencies as needed.

The Working Environment You Can Expect:
This job is located at 1111 West 8th Street Suite 302 Juneau Alaska. This position will conduct certified payroll audits create project files and handle documents related to payroll submissions. You will assist the public and work closely with the investigators and other departmental staff.

Qualifications

A high school diploma or a GED certificate
AND
Six months of advanced clerical experience. This experience is met by service as an Administrative Clerk 3 Human Resource Assistant or Accounting Clerk 2 with the State of Alaska or the equivalent elsewhere.

Substitution:
Six months of post secondary education from an accredited college (3 semester hours or 4 quarter hours equal one month of work experience) may substitute for the specific experience.
