Job Description

The Staff Accountant will play a vital role in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring the integrity of accounting processes. This position requires a solid understanding of accounting principles construction cost tracking and strong analytical skills. You will assist with day-to-day accounting activities daily cash reconciliation  monthly close processes job costing and compliance reporting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and post journal entries and general ledger reconciliations
  • Lead the monthly and year-end close process
  • Maintain and reconcile job cost reports and construction project budgets
  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions
  • Review subcontractor billings and lien waivers for accuracy and compliance
  • Reconcile bank and credit card statements
  • Track fixed assets and depreciation schedules
  • Assist with preparing financial statements and reports
  • Support annual audits and compliance reporting (e.g. W-9s 1099s insurance certificates)
  • Maintain documentation for accounting policies and procedures
  • Collaborate with project managers and the operations team to ensure financial accuracy on construction projects

Qualifications :

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or related field
  • 2 years of experience in accounting; construction industry experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of GAAP and job costing
  • Proficiency with accounting software (e.g. Sage 300 CRE QuickBooks or Viewpoint)
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables VLOOKUPs etc.)
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines

    Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with construction contract types (lump sum T&M GMP)
  • Familiarity with AIA billing and construction compliance documents
