Who are we looking for

We are seeking a well-established Technical Director or Senior Engineer for Substations Primary to join our high-performing collaborative and enthusiastic team in will be responsible fortechnical and commercial outcomes on local and national power projects andplay a key role in developing our people in line with GHDs values and purpose.

We will consider applicants to work in any of our Victorian offices.

Working with an energetic and high performing team this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:

  • Transformative projects that will shape the Victorian electricity transmission system for generations to come
  • Project & design management and leadership
  • Substation design for power utility projects including creation of engineering reports documentation and drawing packages
  • QA of substation design and engineering with oversight of design team including engineers and drafters
  • Leading the preparation of proposals and bids for projects
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with clients including business development
  • Training & investing in the development of team members
  • Collaborating with colleagues across the business (nationally and globally) to manage project resourcing development and delivery
  • Support strategic initiatives on developing and growing GHDs Future Energy program with dedicated attention to substations opportunities in Victoria and across Australia

What would you bring to the team

  • A minimum Bachelor degree in Engineering (RPEV required)
  • Ideally 10 years industry experience (consulting environment or power utility preferable) with experience in substation design of primary systems up to 500kV
  • Demonstrated professional judgement and commercial acumen including identifying assessing evaluating and solving problems to brief and budget
  • Good understanding of the energy industry and mechanics of the National Electricity Market
  • Experience in building and managing high performing teams
  • Understanding of the Australian Standards relating to HV substation design and primary plant technologies
  • Experience working with power utilities/on their projects would be advantageous
  • Knowledge of substation construction & commissioning methodologies
