Cornell University welcomes candidates for the position of Associate Dean College of Arts and Sciences in our Alumni Affairs and Development division based in Ithaca NY. This role presents an exceptional opportunity to contribute to the universitys advancement efforts.
Position Summary
The Associate Dean College of Arts and Sciences serves as the chief development officer for Cornells largest and most academically diverse college leading a high-performing team in securing over $50 million annually in philanthropic support. As a strategic partner to the Dean and senior university leadership the Associate Dean drives integrated fundraising and alumni engagement efforts cultivates major and principal gifts and represents the College to internal and external stakeholders. This is a rare opportunity for a dynamic advancement leader to shape the future of liberal arts education at Cornell through visionary development strategy and collaborative leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as the Colleges chief development officer leading strategic fundraising and alumni engagement efforts in partnership with the Dean and Alumni Affairs and Development leadership.
Manage a high-performing teamof 10 staff across major gifts annual fund alumni engagement and stewardship including direct supervision of four team members.
Drive philanthropic supportby cultivating and soliciting major and principal gifts with a goal of securing over $50 million annually to advance the Colleges priorities.
Serve as a strategic thought partner to the Dean shaping and advancing fundraising priorities while coordinating the Deans involvement in donor engagement alumni events and other high-impact development activities.
Represent the College and Divisionto internal and external stakeholders including the Deans Advisory Council faculty alumni and university-wide development units.
Collaborate across the universitys advancement ecosystem including Principal Gifts Gift Planning and Prospect Development to align and amplify fundraising strategies.

Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree with 7-10 years of progressively responsible fund raising and leadership experience.
A strong record of major and principal gift fundraising experience which will lead to donor investment in priority areas.
Ability to work and partner with colleagues across a complex institutional framework.
Particular strength in developing strategic and comprehensive fundraising plans executing against these plans to achieve goals and objectives.
Ability to champion the breadth and distinction of Arts & Sciences academic disciplines and educational approach.
Work Location
This position is eligible for hybrid work arrangement. Employees typically perform this role remotely 2 days per week and on-campus 3 days per week. The university reserves the right to modify suspend revoke or terminate the hybrid work arrangement at any time.
