BuildingService Worker

Consistent with thestrategic priorities of the Acero Schools and under the supervision of theFacility Supervisor the Building Service Worker role has the primaryresponsibility for cleaning the assigned School or other Facility in such a wayto promote efficiency health safety and the well-being of the studentsteachers other personnel and Building Service Worker will follow daily weekly and monthlycleaning schedules at the assigned School and/or Facility including but notlimited to classrooms hallways offices bathrooms kitchen cafeteriagymnasium storage areas entrances/ Building Service Worker shall follow the cleaning schedule in amanner that does not interfere with students teachers and other personnel atthe School or Facility. The Building Service Worker may also be responsible forperforming additional duties not stated below.
CoreResponsibilities
- Follows and completes the daily weekly and monthlycleaning schedule of the assigned School or other Facility including:
- Collects and bags all garbage from the School orFacility placing tied bags in a closed dumpster.
- Mixes cleaning solutions according to manufacturerspecifications and/or as instructed by Facilities Manager. Follow necessaryprocedures to avoid damage to floors and fixtures.
- Empties cleans and disinfects trash and garbagecans and changes bags daily.
- Cleans and sanitizes bathroom fixtures daily withdesignated germicidal solution.
- Using germicidal solution wet mops washable floorsdaily in classrooms hallways bathrooms kitchen/cafeteria areas and offices.
- Using germicidal solutions washes walls windowsand any mirrors in classrooms hallways bathrooms kitchen/cafeteria officesand other assigned areas as scheduled and as necessary.
- Vacuums all carpeting daily.
- Steam-cleans or shampoos carpets as scheduled and asnecessary.
- Strips seals finish and polish floors as scheduledand as necessary.
- Sweeps and clears entrance/exit areas daily.
- Dusts washes and sanitizes other surfaces asscheduled and as necessary.
- Refills paper towel tissue toilet paper and handsoap in all dispensers.
- Changes light bulbs as needed.
- Removes snow from sidewalks driveways and parkingareas.
- Spreads snow and ice melting chemicals on walkwayssteps and at all entrances as needed.
- Moves heavy furniture equipment and supplies.
- Sprays insecticides and fumigants to prevent insectand rodent infestation.
- Set up arrange and remove decorations tablesdesks chairs and other furniture as needed.
- Adjusts and performs minor repairs to heatingcooling ventilating plumbing and electrical systems.
- Reports to Supervisor or designated staff person assoon as possible any animals vermin or insects in or outside the SchoolFacility; need for cleaning supplies and/or equipment repair; water leaks andother maintenance needs; and anyother health and/or safety hazards as soon as noticed.
- Participates in emergency drills and environmentalsafety activities as requested.
- Attends and participates in Acero Schoolspre-service and in-service training sessions held at School/Facility orelsewhere by Acero Schools.
- Performs other building service worker duties asassigned.
Required Qualifications
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED preferred. Some training in cleaning services field isdesirable.
Experience:
- Experience in the cleaning services field isdesirable.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- Possess knowledge of proper cleaning methods.
- Communicateeffectivelyorally and in writingcommensurate with the responsibilities of the position.
- Must be able to perform physical activities such asbut not limited to lifting heavy items (up to 50 lbs. unassisted) bendingstanding climbing or walking.
- Must be able to safely work in an environmentcontaining caustic chemicals cleaning materials dust and noise.
- Routinely required towork under inclement weather conditions.
Physical Demands
Nature of work requires an ability to operatestandard business office ability to communicateand exchange information collect compile and prepare work documents set-upand maintain work demands require the ability tostand bend reach high and low stoop and walk around the classroom 60% ofthe addition walking up and down stairs several times be able to lift 15 to 20 pounds for short periods of timeand push and pull 15 to 20 lbs.
Working Conditions
Majority of work is performed ina general office requires availability forextended hours plus non-traditional hours required to perform requires participation and attendance atorganization-sponsored events and meetings.
