The Director of NIL Operations and Player Relations will be responsible for managing and coordinating the Name Image and Likeness (NIL) efforts for Fairfield mens and womens basketball student-athletes in compliance with NCAA regulations and institutional policies. This role will serve as the key liaison between the athletics department university third-party partners and student-athletes to ensure NIL opportunities are maximized while maintaining integrity and compliance within the Division I athletics program.
Key Responsibilities:
NIL Strategy & Management:
Develop implement and manage a comprehensive NIL strategy for student-athletes focusing on opportunities that align with university values and athletics goals.
Serve as the primary point of contact for student-athletes coaches and staff regarding NIL matters.
Collaborate with the athletics compliance office to ensure adherence to NCAA rules state laws and university policies related to NIL including but not limited to CAPS and NIL Go etc.
Monitor NIL landscape to ensure Fairfield is on the forefront of change in an evolving landscape
Track & Coordinate NIL Contract Fulfillment
Work with student-athletes Coaching Staff Compliance Van Wagner Sponsors and Agents
Player Relations:
Work with current basketball student-athletes on all contract related questions and NIL inquiries
Serve as a liaison to parents student-athletes coaches and agents regarding institutional NIL contracts to streamline communication and support.
Work with the current student-athletes to ensure up to date compliance with all paperwork necessary for execution of monthly contract payments.
Serve as an additional voice among the mens and womens basketball programs to help navigate transfer portal additions and recruitment signings.
Advanced Basketball Scouting and Recruiting:
Assist the mens and womens basketballs staff with monitoring recruiting trends advanced scouting and transfer portal prospects to benefit each program
Assist MBB/WBB Coaching Staff and Athletics Administration on management & forecasting of NIL / Revenue Sharing Annual Allocations
Assist with on campus recruiting visit efforts which includes the coordination of visits meetings with athletics and university leadership and marketing materials
Establish a comprehensive basketball analytics strategy to impact performance in partnership with the Dolan School of Business
Basketball Alumni Relations:
Serve as a mens and womens basketball alumni ambassador and engagement contact
Focused on driving alumni event attendance mentorship engagement and philanthropic participation among former basketball student-athletes
Assist with outreach to basketball alumni facilitate ticket requests and drive increased monarch membership
Assist University Advancement & Athletics Leadership on the stewardship of donors to the Competitive Excellence Fund
Collaboration & Networking:
Work closely with athletic department staff athletics advancement coaches marketing and external partners to create innovative NIL partnerships.
Build relationships with agencies marketers influencers and potential sponsors to create sustainable NIL opportunities for student-athletes.
Partner with academic and career services departments to ensure NIL aligns with the academic priorities of student-athletes
Assist with special projects related to NIL and other strategic initiatives as needed
Assist all varsity programs in the coordination and administration of NIL activities and agreements for current and prospective student-athletes as needed
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Sports Management Business Marketing Communications or a related field (Masters preferred).
Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in sports marketing NIL or athletic administration preferably at the collegiate level.
Strong understanding of NCAA regulations related to NIL and compliance requirements.
Experience in building partnerships contract negotiation and working with third-party brands.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively educate and support student-athletes.
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Knowledge of social media platforms and personal branding strategies.
Passion for collegiate athletics and commitment to student-athletes success.
