Job Description

Weigh & Mix Operator

Position Summary

Our Manassas Virginia site is a part of the Consumer Health division and provides expanded capabilities in soft chews and lozenges. With extensive development and manufacturing expertise and a wide range of flavors ingredients and colors available we can work with complex formulations to help create engaging new products consumers will love.

The Weigh and Mix Operator will support production of packaged goods according to Standard Operating Procedures and specified quality standards. The Weigh and Mix Operator carries out specific instructions from Production Manager/Supervisor in accordance with the daily packaging schedule. This position is 100% based on-site in Manassas VA with regular working hours on third shift.

The Role

  • Moving pallets in and out of the production room according to ingredient usage

  • Covering ingredients that are around work area when not directly being scooped

  • Documenting on the batch record in real time while weighing products and ingredients out

  • Cleaning and sanitizing weighing room as well as moving pallets when changing over products.

  • Preparing ingredients as documented on the batch record.

  • Moving required totes/drums to proper locations to be heated in accordance with batch record requirements.

  • Wrapping clean plastic around nozzles when not in direct use to prevent contamination

  • Cutting open all bags to add powders using a mesh screen and then sifting these powders through the screen by rubbing hands over the powders to push through screen.

  • Dumping liquids into the mixer via a drum lifter to eliminate spills and prevent product from running into the floor.

  • Other duties assigned

The Candidate

  • High School diploma or GED required

  • Forklift experience is a plus

  • Ability to add subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers common fractions and decimals.

  • The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 40 pounds infrequently move up to 1000 pounds.

  • While performing the duties of this Job the employee is regularly required to stand use hands to finger handle or feel and reach with hands and arms climb or balance.

  • The employee is occasionally required to stoop kneel crouch or crawl.
