Principal Climate Change Analyst

The Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity available for a Principal Climate Change Analyst to join the NSW EPA. The successful applicant will coordinate the preparation analysis and delivery of the EPAs climate change data and reporting to support the continual review of the EPAs accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with the Australian Sustainability Reporting Standards and NSW Treasury policies and other relevant statutory requirements. Guide the compilation and reporting on emissions reporting and strategically lead EPA to achieving Net Zero.

Please note the incumbent should have a strong technical accounting and finance reporting background and deep experience implementing accounting standards.

About You

  • Draft and review financial and accounting policies to ensure compliance with Australian Sustainability Reporting Standards (ASRS) and NSW Treasury TPG24-33.
  • Build and maintain relationships within EPA to capture GHG emissions and climate change data for regulatory disclosures.
  • Analyse data and provide reports to senior management on environmental outcomes and climate change risk management.
  • Manage project budgets resources and multidisciplinary teams to meet deadlines and ensure quality delivery of environmental data.
  • Lead initiatives to support EPAs Net Zero by 2030 goal fostering productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Prepare the annual Climate Change Impacts Risks and Adaptation Statement and assist in the preparation of Climate Risk Disclosure and audits.
  • Draft reports briefings and provide advice to senior leadership on financial disclosures climate risks and environmental reporting.
  • Identify emerging environmental issues affecting EPA reports and recommend solutions considering legal economic and social factors.

About the Team

The Strategy and Policy Division leads the EPAs strategic and regulatory policy across a range of environmental issues including air water waste chemicals and more. It collaborates with governments communities and Aboriginal People to address emerging challenges and deliver innovative policy solutions that improve environmental and public health outcomes for NSW. The division also oversees financial management for the EPA and supports the organisations commitment to inclusivity building trusted meaningful relationships with Aboriginal communities.
