Summary:
The Supervisor of School Counseling is responsible for the organization operation and coordination of the School Counseling Services program PreK-12 and for the professional development of counselors and social workers with Frederick County Public Schools. Additionally the supervisor will develop implement and oversee the compliance of Section 504 under American with Disabilities Act.
Qualifications:
- Virginia postgraduate professional license with an endorsement in School Counseling; endorsement in Administration and Supervision preferred
- Minimum of five years of School Counseling experience (middle or high school preferred)
- Minimum of three years of teaching experience
- Knowledge of 504 Compliance preferred
- Possesses strong organizational skills and interpersonal skills
- Ability to keep and maintain accurate records and to meet deadlines
Essential Duties:
Essential duties are interpreted as being descriptive and not restrictive in nature. Other duties may be assigned.
- Serves as the districts lead authority for all K-12 school counseling services ensuring alignment with the divisions strategic plan mission and vision.
- Develops and leads the implementation of a unified equity-driven vision for comprehensive school counseling PreK-12 that supports student wellness academic success and postsecondary readiness.
- Establishes clear expectations and provides direction for the role of school counselors and social workers in advancing student outcomes.
- Participates in the recruitment selection and mentoring of school-based counseling leaders including lead counselors.
- Oversees the organization operation and coordination of the PreK-12 School Counseling Services program.
- Designs and delivers professional learning opportunities for school counselors including monthly trainings for lead counselors and ongoing support for new hires.
- Serves as a mentor and thought partner to lead counselors and directors of school counseling.
- Provides leadership and oversight for the divisions comprehensive PreK-12 Bullying Prevention Program.
- Coordinates suicide prevention programming and supports schools with suicide intervention efforts.
- Oversees the implementation and management of the Therapeutic Day Treatment (TDT) program across schools.
- Collaborates with schools and external mental health agencies to connect students and families with needed supports and resources.
- Leads the districts Section 504 program ensuring full compliance with ADA requirements and coordination across departments.
- Provides professional development for staff on Section 504 processes including referrals eligibility plan development and implementation compliance monitoring and manifestation determination reviews.
Supports school counselors in ensuring students meet graduation requirements in compliance with state and federal regulations. - Assists schools in planning and implementing crisis response protocols for critical incidents and emergencies.
- Facilitates and supports the implementation of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) in partnership with school and division teams.
Pay Rate:
The salary range is $89816-$147900
Contract:
Full time / 12 months / 245 days
