MLKCSE was founded in 2006 and is dedicated to fighting the opportunity gap in Western MA. We are committed to providing each and every one of our students with the quality education they deserve. MLKCSE is a Title I school. Our MLKCSE students are 34.7% African American and 58.3% Hispanic. 100% of our students qualify for free or reduced-price breakfast and lunch. 24.2% of our students are Emerging Bilingual students and 18.8% of our students have special school is meeting or exceeding targets for most (93%) accountability measures. Overall our school performs better than 60% of elementary and middle schools statewide at the 61st percentile. MLKCSE is ranked one of the six charter schools in Massachusetts to be meeting more than 75% of the criterion-reference targets. MLKCSE ranked as the 4th highest charter school in the State for our math performance.The RoleSpeech Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA)TITLE:Speech Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA)Under the direction and supervision of a speech-language pathologist the speech-language assistant is responsible for providing speech-language services to students with Individual Education Programs in the TO:SLP Supervisor as per the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) Director of Special EducationRESPONSIBILITIES OF THE JOB:Under the direction and clinical supervision of a speech-language pathologist (SLP) the speech-language assistant provides speech-language services to students with individualized education with the SLP supervisor on evidence based interventions to help students achieve their speech-language goals and objectives on their with the SLP supervisor regarding information on students screening to identify students with suspected speech-language progress and tracking data using qualitative and quantitative information for individual students receiving speech-language collaboration with the SLP maintains list of students names on the speech-language caseload as well as those students who are screened and eligible for speech-language track of and inventory speech-language intervention materials in the speech and language therapy servicesProvides progress reports in collaboration with the the direction and clinical supervision of a speech-language pathologist provides speech-language services to students with collaboratively with the Director of Special Education and school MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS1. Bachelors Degree from a speech-language pathology or communication disorders program2. Successful completion of a minimum of one hundred (100) hours of supervised field workexperience or its clinical experience equivalent3. License to practice as a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant by the Massachusetts Board of Registration of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology4. Past adherence to practicing ethically within the scope of practice and responsibilities for an SLPASalary Range - $50k-$70k per yearSalary commensurate with education and experience.
