CBC is looking for a creative and resourceful Video Producer to develop shoot and edit video for two priority arts and culture shows: Commotion with Elamin Abdelmahmoud and Q with Tom Power. Working under the supervision of the Executive Producer Digital Arts Q & Commotion the successful candidate will collaborate across teams to help bring Commotion and Q to broad audiences on YouTube and other video platforms.
In this role youll conceive develop shoot edit and stream video content on a daily basis for Commotion; you will also assist with Q. You will work closely with the team but also at times independently to put out daily content in a fast-paced environment. You may also be called on to assist with managing YouTube channels podcast platforms or social channels.
You bring a wide range of experience shooting both in studio and on location to the role. You should be comfortable editing both interviews and social video and have a strong understanding of the video podcast landscape. You should also have experience with live production. You are eager to experiment with new approaches see whats working and pivot accordingly. You are also a keen collaborator and recognize the importance of working hand in hand with a team. And of course you are passionate about arts and pop culture.
Key tasks:
Shoot or oversee the shooting of content. Operate a video camera and ancillary equipment including live switching and streaming ensuring optimal visual lighting and audio quality whether in studio or on location.
Determine the style pace tempo and format of the story.
Perform location scouts when applicable to identify audio lighting and other preproduction needs and troubleshoot potential problems.
Book studios or other facilities required for the production shooting or editing of material.
Write short copy/headlines prepare questions and develop background on stories and interview subjects.
Create shot lists and mood boards that contribute to the focus and mood of the story when needed.
Edit or direct the editing of recorded items on appropriate/available editing systems.
Assist with aspects of publishing including re-packaging or re-formatting the creation of social edits headlines and graphic deliverables.
As required performs the following tasks:
Perform final edit and necessary paperwork/reports;
Record voice-over;
Arrange for and conduct interviews;
Maintain a basic library of stock footage and archival information;
Perform routine minor maintenance on camera editing and associated equipment;
In the field lead production and provide leadership and guidance for performers and crew;
Provide talent and crew with feedback to assist their performance.
You possess:
A university or college degree combined with five or more years of practical experience
Experience working with a wide range of video cameras and audio recording equipment
Experience producing live streams
Advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite specifically Adobe Premiere Adobe After Effects and Photoshop
Experience editing and optimizing social videos
A calm attitude under pressure and an ability to work collaboratively and respectfully with others
A demonstrated familiarity with the arts and pop culture
Ability to work flexible hours and overtime (when required)
A valid drivers license and access to a motor vehicle is preferred.
