Dot Experience Education Program Associate
Location
Louisville KY This position allows for a hybrid work schedule.
About the Role
American Printing House for the Blind (APH) is launching a new attraction in Louisville called The Dot Experience with a mission to change perspectives about blindness spur insight and action that welcomes everyone and lead as a model museum of inclusivity and accessibility. Reporting to the Senior Director of Advancement Initiatives the Dot Experience Education Program Associate will execute multi-faceted educational programs experiences and events at APH and offsite with activities for young children their families and groups including nontraditional museum audiences and underserved addition they will provide feedback on all programs to help plan for use when The Dot Experience opens.
What Youll Do (Key Responsibilities)
- Serve as an ambassador for The Dot Experience bygreeting orienting engaging with and providing information to guests and groups.
- Teach educational programs for groups and individuals that promote access and inclusion as they change perceptions about blindness.
- Lead special event educational activities.
- Use The Dot Experience resources to provide engaging and meaningful learning opportunities that are age-appropriate thought provoking fun and spur action.
- Provide feedback for all programs and activities to help assess future viability.
- Work a flexible schedule that often includes weekends and evenings. Most programs are on Saturdays but could also be during the school day from August May.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
What We Expect from You (Preferred Qualifications)
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred with experience in youth or community programs and/or event coordination. Willingness to learn or experience using access tools for people who are blind or low vision (e.g. braille guide dogs magnifiers tactile graphics).
- Strong communication public interaction and facilitation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to build relationships with diverse populations and a desire to educate others about blindness and low vision.
- Committed to accessibility inclusion and The Dot Experience mission - to change perspectives about blindness to encourage people to act in their own ways to make the world more welcoming for everyone.
Note: A combination of education training and experience may be considered when competency in the role is demonstrated.

Compensation
Pay Rate: $20.00/hour. This is a temporary granted-funded part-time position with variable hours not to exceed 19 hours per week. Due to this being a part-time role this position is not eligible for benefits such as medical dental or vision.
