Job Description
This position will support our Discovery Series which includes:
First Steps: You and Your Toddler (ages 12 months3 years with parent)
Little Explorers: Toddler Independence Class (ages 24 years without parent)
In this role youll collaborate with a Lead Teacher to design meaningful lessons guide students throughout the day and foster a positive supportive classroom environment.
Pay:
$18-$19/hour depending on experience.
Typical weekly schedule:
Tuesdays: 8:5011:00 AM
Wednesdays: 8:5010:00 AM
Thursdays: 8:509:50 AM
Instructors are expected to arrive before class to prepare for the day and stay afterward to clean up plan lessons and communicate with parents. All time worked including prep and planning is paid. Additional opportunities may be available for enrichment or specialty classes.
- Create and implement daily lesson plan activities that are age appropriate and designed for student growth.
- Use a range of teaching approaches and adapts instruction to include all children.
- Understand and appreciate the diverse backgrounds and needs of each child.
- Supervise children and ensure their safety at all times.
- Communicate and enforce behavioral expectations and policies.
- Prepare materials for class projects and activities.
- Submits supply requests in a timely manner.
- Supervise the use and care of park district supplies equipment and facilities reporting the need for repair or replacement in a timely manner.
- Establish and maintain good working relationships with parents co-workers and community groups.
- Attend staff meetings trainings and special events as scheduled by the Recreation Supervisor.
- Maintain and submit records of program operation in accordance with district policies.
- Enforce and follow Park Districts safety policies to ensure environment and participants are safe.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Previous experience in a preschool daycare or early childhood setting preferred.
- Ability to work collaboratively with others.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
