What Youll Do:
As a Purchasing Specialist you will plan coordinate and handle the purchasing of specified materials to support the business and ensure inventory levels and delivery dates are achieved.
Your Accountabilities in the Role:
- Creates purchase orders for raw materials and business supplies performing specific sourcing and purchasing of assorted materials as needed to ensure a high quality on-time product at the budgeted cost.
- Monitors vendor performance and material due dates to resolve quantity/quality delivery and billing/backorder issues timely and effectively.
- Monitors pricing for variances lead times and terms on purchased items. Sources raw materials and selects vendors that meets company requirements.
- Coordinates with external third-parties and subcontractors on specific project bids to establish and ensure that projects meet the outcomes required.
- Updates pricing of materials in the system to ensure costing is up to date.
- Reconcile invoices with delivery and PO records.
- Coordinates and provides oversight of managed services to the IT contract.
- Coordinates and reviews specific quarterly inventory cycle counts to ensure inventory management is accurate.
- Runs various reports in support of the Business Operations team; identifies and provides information to management on variances to correct in the future.
- Assist with back-up duties for various administrative roles.
Position Requirements:
- Education: HS Diploma; would consider a combination of coursework and education. Experience and reliability matter most!
- Experience: 1 year of purchasing supply chain material sourcing or buyer experience; will train the right person with related background.
- Certification(s): APICS certification would be a plus but not required.
- Functional Skills: Strong math analytical and problem-solving skills are required for this role. Excellent planning prioritizing attention to detail and follow-up are also needed to meet the job functions. An ability to research and help support/negotiate vendor options to meet price and value objectives is also important for this role.
- Technology Aptitude/Skills: Strong Excel skills utilizing pivot tables basic formulas and tracking tools.
- Language Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills are needed to communicate with internal and external customers and vendors.
- Leadership/Behaviors: Self-starter who can work independently and learn quickly. Strong ability to collaborate network and negotiate. Excellent ability to build relationships with those internally and externally to meet the position needs. Creative and innovative to recognize an issue and work calmly to find a resolution.

Other Important Information:
Pay/Salary: Hourly position with pay based on skill and experience level

Reports To: VP of Business Operations
Core Hours: 8:00 am to 4:30 pm
Typical Work Week: M-F; 40 - 42 hours a week on average during peak times.
Direct Reports: None
Travel: Limited; less than 5%
Work/Environment: Normal office environment with occasional visits to manufacturing area. Requires good vision with ability to see colors.
