Position: Elementary Instructional Coach for Math (.9 FTE)
Department/Location: Nashoba Regional School Districts Elementary Schools
Salary: In accordance with theNREA Unit A Contract

Organizational Scope:
The Instructional Coach for Math leads and supports grades 3-5 staff in the use of evidence-based instructional practices to advance student learning and growth. Coaches assist staff in the development implementation assessment and refinement of a high-quality mathematics curriculum aligned to MA Curriculum Frameworks to improve student outcomes through collaborative and embedded learning opportunities (co-planning co-teaching and coaching). Working closely with the Department of Teaching and Learning and will support both horizontal and vertical alignment of standards and practices across grade levels and content areas.
Position Responsibilities:
- Work closely with building-based Instructional Leadership Teams the Department of Teaching and Learning and other instructional coaches
- Meet regularly with Principal/Assistant Principal and Curriculum Director of Mathematics and Science to review school wide and classroom-level quantitative and qualitative data and to monitor and support progress toward instructional goals within a Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS)
- Lead effective and equitable mathematical instructional practices Universal Design for Learning instructional leadership and curriculum initiatives of the district
- Serve as an active participant in the curriculum review cycle assisting in the selection and evaluation of resources in the piloting process as well as the launch and implementation of the selected high-quality instructional materials as applicable
- Establish sustainable structures to engage teachers in Student-Centered Coaching cycles to refine instructional practices and plan lessons that align with the standards of mathematical practice and support Nashobas instructional vision for mathematics
- Support and provide targeted instruction based on student need in collaboration with general educators
- Support teachers with the administration of universal screening assessments progress monitoring benchmark assessments and/or other assessment methodology; facilitate and assist in effective and relevant data collection
- Conduct grade-level data team meetings in collaboration with Principal/Assistant Principal
- With educators engage in conversations and collaborative efforts to collect and analyze a variety of data to strengthen targeted instruction in response to determined student needs
- Maintain tracking system for identified students who are in need of targeted instruction
- Support the training of new staff on the comprehensive use of universal screeners
- Provide data reports and analysis for school leaders as necessary
- Participate in district-wide coaching training and continue to develop professionally as a lead learner
- Other professional responsibilities as assigned
Job Qualifications:
- Massachusetts DESE licensure in Mathematics 1-6
- Masters degreein related field highly desired.
- Five plus years of teaching experience; such alternatives to the above as the Superintendent deems appropriate and acceptable
- Possess strong interpersonal skills (communication problem-solving collegiality collaboration) to share evidence-based instructional approaches with teachers and administrators and provide mentoring/coaching
- Ability to collect analyze and synthesize a variety of data sets
- Experience in diversity equity and inclusion best practices
- Ability to work onsite in district schools and buildings is an essential function of this job
- Ability to manage individual workload and prioritize tasks
- Excellent communication skills; Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills and the ability to relate well with staff administration families and the community
- Must be able to assist in the protection of students and school property and assist in fire and other emergencies or emergency drills as required by law and School Committee policy
Physical Demands:
Will travel to district schools and buildings therefore the ability to walk and stand on tile flooring is required. Other work is performed in a typical office environment requiring minimal to light physical effort. This may include everyday discomforts and distractions typical of office settings such as proximity to colleagues temperature variations frequent interruptions and moderate noise. This position may require the ability to operate a computer keyboard and standard office equipment at efficient speed and for lengthy periods of time.
Terms of Employment Evaluation of Performance and Salary:
The Instructional Coach is a Unit A bargaining unit position. Terms of employment including evaluation of performance and salary are in accordance with the current Unit A Collective Bargaining Agreement.
