Manage - in collaboration with subordinate Utilities Production supervisors the operations and mechanical maintenance of OSUs three utilities production plants - Central Plant (CP) West Chilled Water Plant (WCWP) and Water Treatment Plant (WTP) ensuring these plants serve the OSU Stillwater campus load demand for continuous efficient and dependable high quality steam chilled water hot water and potable water - meeting facilities heating cooling and domestic water systems needs. Responsible for consistent adherence to all federal state local university and department compliance requirements related to utilities production.
Provide the Utilities Production Supervisors with leadership direct supervision guidance and performance evaluations in support of plant operations mechanical maintenance and repair staff development and supervision and other administrative responsibilities.
Project Management - oversee the planning and coordination of Utilities Production Projects.
Employee in this position is required to be on call for emergencies and/or any other event after 5 p.m. weekdays weekends and holidays. Emergency or unusual conditions may require reporting to campus at random times.
Must use appropriate personal protective equipment as required (hard hat vest gloves safety glasses etc.). These items are provided and are not for personal use.
Due to communication expectations of the position the incumbent is required to maintain a personal cell phone and to be continuously available both during and after normal working hours.

Seven years of experience in a mechanical-electrical operator or production-oriented field operation and maintenance in a power plant and chilled water production or other municipal utility plants overhaul of mechanical plant equipment and/or knowledge of domestic water treatment production.
Or two years of post-secondary education in a related field and five years of the above experience.
Or Bachelors degree in engineering Chemistry Mathematics or a related field and three years of the above experience.
Have upon hire or within 12 months of hire the following certifications: Refrigeration Handling license Oklahoma DOL Boiler License Class D Water Operator License.
Have before hire and maintain after hire a valid drivers license. A valid drivers license must be maintained for the operation of an OSU vehicle which is required in the performance of job duties as assigned.
Ability to develop or modify utility plant operating and maintenance procedures and compliance-related manuals; develop plans and specifications for major equipment replacements upgrades and repairs; and analyze plant equipment operation for efficiency. Competent knowledge of boilers chillers pumps variable frequency drives chilled water compressors cooling towers chemical feed systems basic water chemistry distribution system operations plant auxiliaries and the necessary maintenance on all of the above equipment.
Good oral and written communication skills and comfortable with one-on-one and group dynamics. Ability to become proficient in the use of AiM Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) software and the use of mobile technology.
Mechanical Engineering or Related Field
Seven years of experience in managing utility production operation plants (thermal steam and chilled water and potable water) or related industrial plants; working knowledge of current federal and state compliance policies and regulations; and knowledge of utility production plant mechanical and electrical systems maintenance and automation systems implementation and programming. Demonstrated experience in routine financial reporting projecting fiscal budgetary needs and analyzing long-term financial considerations for the utilities production organization. A minimum of five years of experience in staff supervision.
