Job Description

The Department of Urology at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine and Boston Medical Center (BMC) is an academic medical/surgical practice committed to excellence in clinical care teaching and research. Under the general supervision of a physician the Physician Assistant will provide expertise in treatments that improve our urology patients overall health and quality of life in a comfortable casual and caring setting. Specifically this position will have a focus on patients being evaluated and/or treated for urologic cancers (e.g. prostate cancer kidney cancer bladder cancer). The Physician Assistant will work closely with Urologic Oncologists in providing comprehensive care in the pre-operative and post-operative addition to patient care the Physician Assistant will be actively involved in liaising with our medical and radiation oncology colleagues to provide a multi-disciplinary care approach. This includes being an integral member of the weekly multi-disciplinary tumor board conference. There may also be some ample time to manage non-oncologic (general urology) patients.

Required Skills

Education:

Qualified Physician Assistants will hold at least a Bachelors degree and must be a graduate of a PA Program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant Inc. (ARC-PA) or its predecessor.


Certificates Licenses Registrations required:

In order to apply for the position the PA must be National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistant (NCCPA) PANCE eligible and eligible for PA licensure in the State of Massachusetts. Documentation of Massachusetts PA license and initial NCCPA certification are required upon hire. If prescribing medications is included in clinical duties and privileges Massachusetts Controlled Substances Registration and federal DEA Controlled Substance Registration are required.

Experience:

Prior experience in similar clinical setting/specialty is preferred.
