Job Description

3 months contract with local authority

We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Deputy Officer in Charge to work with vulnerable children and young people in Cardiff. As a confident independent and effective Deputy Manager you will be responsible for leading inspiring motivating and developing our new Children s Home as well as ensuring that the home meets all regulatory standards and provides excellent quality care to the children and young people. This role involves understanding the needs of the young people in depth and securing placements that can better meet those needs. Key responsibilities include ensuring that young people receive a sensitive service that best meets their various needs empowering them to have a voice in decision-making building positive relationships with families and others and ensuring integration with the local community.


Requirements


  • Proven experience at a senior level of working with young people within a residential childcare environment
  • Relevant qualification meeting the equivalent criteria for Social Care Wales registration and a Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care (Children and Young People)
  • Excellent communication and organization skills
  • Knowledge of The Regulation and Inspection of Social Care (Wales) Act 2016 and other current legislative requirements
  • Knowledge of budget monitoring and management systems
  • Knowledge of child development and an appreciation of the needs of young people
  • Ability to undertake and complete assessments
  • Experience of working with a Behavior support model of care
  • Ability to plan organize and prepare reports and chair meetings
  • Experience in managing staff
  • Ability to understand own duty of care to safeguard and promote the interests of young people and challenge inappropriate practices
  • Problem-solving and decision-making skills


Requirements: Proven experience in quality assurance and reviewing services for children and young people Strong understanding of statutory and regulatory safeguarding requirements Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment Commitment to championing the rights and well-being of children and young people
