About the role
AEMOs Wholesale Reform Delivery team implements market reforms specifically related to the wholesale trading and settlement of energy and associated services in the NEM including those within AEMOs NEM Reform Program. NEM Reform is a large-scale complex industry-wide program impacting participants across all areas of the national electricity market. Each initiative supports the transition of the NEM and brings Australia closer to a net-zero future.
This role is a unique opportunity to provide leadership and strategic direction for implementing the changes required to introduce wholesale reforms into the National Electricity Market.
What you will be doing
- Work collaboratively with the initiative Project Managers to enable the successful delivery of the project.
- Work across teams within AEMO to establish how a reform will be implemented ensuring the overall benefits of the reform can be realised.
- Engage with market participants and market bodies to ensure the reform is delivered in accordance with policy intent and that affected market participants have the appropriate information and materials to prepare for reform implementation.
- Provide strategic guidance to identify mitigate and resolve issues and risks in a timely manner.
- Ensure business readiness and change management strategies and plans are in place covering each affected team for wholesale reform initiatives in alignment with the IT release plan/s and where appropriate the industry readiness strategies.
What you will bring to the role
- Demonstrated capability to lead project teams taking high level market / service designs to practical implementation in operational energy environments.
- Strong experience in the energy or related industries with a good understanding of the physical operation of electricity and/or gas networks and the services delivered through markets that support them.
- Demonstrated understanding of energy markets and commercial concepts and ability to convey these ideas effectively in a non-technical manner.
- Knowledge of the data assets and exchanges that underpin the efficient and secure operation of the energy markets and detailed knowledge of the political legal and regulatory framework in which the energy industry operates.
- Demonstrated ability to develop negotiate and implement resolutions to complex commercial or regulatory models.
- Highly developed strategic thinking problem solving data and analytical skills particularly in relation to national energy market changes and its effects on AEMO.
- Tertiary and/or post graduate qualifications with a relevant context to Energy Markets (for example Arts Finance Economics Law Commerce Mathematics or Engineering).
