Assists in patient care and preparation of surgical patients; Performs scrub duties and related procedures; Accountable for ensuring cleaning and maintenance of supplies and equipment for selected
specialty. Performs in the advanced roles of preceptor service specialist and instrument room liaison.
Position Responsibilities:
Required Education
HS/GED
Graduate of an accredited educational program for surgical technologists preferred
Required Licensure/Certification
Certified Surgical Technician (CST) OR Certified Tech in Surgery Certified (TS-C) OR Qualifies for grandfathering under State of Texas Department of State Health Services OR Qualifies for grandfathering under State of Texas Department of State Health Services - Health and Safety Code Title 4 Subtitle B Chapter 259
Note: Title 4 Subtitle B Chapter 259 does not apply to:
(1) A licensed registered nurse or a licensed vocational nurse; or
(2) the employment by a health care facility of an individual whose primary functions include the cleaning or sterilization of supplies instruments equipment or operating rooms.
