Chiller Refrigeration Engineer

About the Role: Our client in Peterborough are seeking a highly skilled Chiller/Refrigeration Engineer to join their growing team. You will play a key role in installing maintaining and commissioning a variety of commercial and industrial chiller systems ensuring optimal performance and compliance with industry standards. This is a field-based role requiring travel to sites primarily across the Cambridgeshireregion with occasional out-of-hours or weekend work depending on project demands.
Job Responsibilities
- Install service and maintain a range of air-cooled and water-cooled chillers (scroll screw centrifugal etc.)
- Perform full commissioning duties: pre-commissioning checks system testing functional performance testing and final reporting.
- Diagnose faults and carry out effective repairs or system modifications.
- Ensure all systems meet design specifications and comply with F-Gas and EN378 regulations.
- Complete and maintain detailed documentation including commissioning checklists risk assessments and method statements.
- Support junior engineers and site teams during installation and commissioning.
- Liaise with project managers clients and contractors to deliver seamless project execution.
- Maintain the highest standards of health safety and environmental compliance.
Person Specification
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Refrigeration and Air Conditioning (or equivalent)
- City & Guilds 2079 / F-Gas Certification (Category 1)
- Demonstrable experience commissioning commercial/industrial chiller and refrigeration systems
- Solid understanding of refrigeration cycles electrical systems and BMS integration
- Ability to read technical drawings and wiring schematics
- Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills
- Valid UK Driving Licence
- CSCS/ECS certification preferred
Desirable:
- Manufacturer training (e.g. Trane Carrier Daikin)
- Experience with hydrotesting pressure testing and flushing
- Knowledge of heat pumps and wider HVAC systems
- Excellent communication and technical reporting skills
