Job Description

As part of our YMCA Youth Development Strategy and our commitment to JAIDE (Justice Access Inclusion Diversity and Equity) priorities the YMCA is seeking a passionate and dedicated Youth Worker to join our team and enhance belonging at our YMCA facilities. This role is integral to fostering a welcoming environment where all youth and their families feel valued respected and empowered. You will also be essential in the delivery of our Youth Financial Assistance program. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to inclusion experience working with diverse populations and can create and implement programs that promote positive wellness and connection.

Wed love to hear from people with:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage and inspire youth from diverse backgrounds.
  • Bachelors degree in Social Work Education Psychology or a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team and build positive relationships with community partners.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work in a dynamic and changing environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to DEI with experience developing and implementing related programs.

Required Competencies:

  • Commitment to Mission Vision and Values: Demonstrates and promotes a personal understanding of and appreciation for the mission vision and values of the YMCA of Southern Interior BC.
  • Service Orientated: Deliberately identifies and creates opportunities to enhance each and every individuals YMCA experience. Creates action plans to resolve any service gap areas.
  • Relationship Building and Collaboration: Builds positive interactions listens attentively and communicates effectively to create an open communication environment. Share information best practices and resources with colleagues.

The YMCAs Commitment to Trust Safety and Equality:

As part of a trusted charitable organization you can expect to receive excellent services and safety training throughout your YMCA career. As the first step in your journey you will be required to:

  • Provide 3 references of a professional nature (Ex. employer supervisor colleague teacher coach etc.)
  • Provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check Check/Vulnerable Sector Search issued no later than six (6) months preceding your start date. The YMCA will provide applicable instructions and paperwork.
