What will you be doing at Woodard & Curran
Woodard & Curran is seeking a full-time Project Manager (PM) and Chief Operator for the Adelanto Public Utility Authority in Adelanto California. The Project Manager will serve as the Systems Chief Designated Operator and you will be responsible for the day-to-day management and supervision of the operational and maintenance activities of the departments drinking water treatment and distribution system. As the PM you will oversee a team of 5 staff and manage the daily operation maintenance and compliance of the Adelanto Public Utility Authority systemsto include managing all associated regulatory sampling programsin a safe and timely manner. The Adelanto Public Utility Authority system consists of 12 groundwater wells 2 purchased water interconnects 165 miles of transmission and distribution pipelines nearly 10000 water services 6 reservoirs 3 booster pump stations 1 drinking water treatment plant as well as the departments 3-zone distribution system.

The Project Manager will play an active role in coordination and communication with operations staff client representatives regulators contractors and any assigned engineering firms. He or she will also work closely with all parties to ensure effective system operation and optimization staff development implementation and management of an innovative predictive maintenance management program administration and implementation of all routine and capital repair and replacement projects and emergency response for process upsets equipment failures force majeure events all alarm events etc. He or She will regularly prepare reports for regulators clients and the firm. Additionally the Project Manager will manage the budget of the project and manage the scope and schedule of contractual obligations and serve as the main point of contact between the client and the firm. Supervision will be provided by an Area Manager; however the Project Manager must be able to work comfortably in a self-directed environment with minimal daily supervision.
Work is performed in a safe and professional manner by following established safety operating and emergency response procedures. Our operators participate in an on call rotation for plant coverage outside normal workday hours and shifts may include addition operators will be required to respond to emergency situations and work in inclement weather as needed.

Schedule:
Reliable and dependable attendance is an essential function of this position. Availability for standby dutyand the ability to be on-call working evenings weekends and holidays as needed. Response to emergency events and alarm call-outs as scheduled and required.

What will you need to succeed

    • Must possess a minimum of a California Grade 3 Treatment and Grade 2 Distribution Operators License to serve as the systems Chief Operator.
    • 5-10 years experience in the water treatment and distribution industry preferred.
    • Proficiency with computers including an ability to work with: SCADA Microsoft Word Excel Maintenance Management Programs and other site-specific systems.
    • Participation directly in and to a significant extent management of the operation maintenance and repair of drinking water facilities throughout the last 5 years.
    • Experience managing a minimum of 2 staff.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.
    • Proven track record with regulators and solid understanding of regulations and reporting requirements.
    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • Must possess a valid California drivers license.
    • May require an irregular work schedule and overtime hours.
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with superiors other personnel and the general public.
    • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
    • Familiarity with water treatment and distribution system processes with aptitude for laboratory analysis record keeping and facility maintenance.
    • Must be able to lift or move up to 40 lbs. on a regular basis.
    • Successful candidates will be required to complete a background check pre-placement physical and drug screen before employment.
$90000 - $124800 a year
Depending on qualifications and experience.
