About the role:
We are currently recruiting for the Analyst position in the Energy practice in our Madrid Office.
At Compass Lexecon we pride ourselves on providing Analysts with an opportunity to make a significant impact from day one. As an Analyst you will become an integral part of the team with the crucial role of helping clients understand how competition and regulation works in the energy industry. You will contribute to cases in a variety of ways working closely with senior staff to understand the issues that face the client relating those issues to relevant economic theory and supporting the analysis with solid and persuasive empirical evidence.
Analysts typically join us after completing their Masters degree in economics but candidates with an undergraduate degree with experience will also be considered.

Key responsibilities:

    • Analysing qualitative and quantitative client data to better understand how competition and regulation works in the energy industry
    • Reviewing literature and contributing to discussions about the theoretical and empirical approach
    • Conducting empirical analysis using Excel and Stata
    • Drafting reports and summarising analysis
    • Participating in client meetings and conference calls

Skills/profile sought:

    • Masters degree in economics ideally with focus on energy policy microeconomics industrial organisation and/or econometrics. We also consider undergraduates with experience.
    • Highly analytical
    • Excellent organisational skills with an ability to multi-task
    • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and clients
    • Accuracy and attention to detail
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
    • Stata and Excel skills desirable
    • Fluency in English and Spanish
