The Alcohol Gaming Fuel and Tobacco (AGFT) Division of Service Nova Scotia is the regulatory bodycharged with administering Part II of the Gaming Control Act parts of the Liquor Control Act and the Theatres and Amusements Act. The AGFT issues approximately 13000 licenses annually and provides counter service to approximately 3100 annually. Service standards dictate that licenses and registrations be processed within 10 business days.

Some of the primary accountabilities in the role include:

-Reviewing approving denying and maintaining licensing and registration applications in accordance with legislation policies and operational procedures of the division.

-Conducting background checks of individuals seeking to obtain a liquor license and the eligibility of gaming restraints.

-Providing accurate analysis data entry processing and issuance of individual gaming registrations liquor licenses/registration and imposing applicable conditions of Registration.

-Invoicing and reconciliation of costs associated with processing applications and collection of associated fees including outstanding fees.

-Providing customer service functions by telephone email and counter service; liaising with stakeholders to ensure the proper approvals and/or documentation is obtained to meet the requirements of a license or registration.

To be considered for this opportunity you have five years ofrelated experience; an equivalent combination of training and experience may be acceptable.


You possess a high level of communication (written and verbal) skills diplomacy resourcefulness organization skills as well as the ability to work with minimal addition you have exceptional attention to detail and judgement skills to analyze and interpret legislation extract and apply licensing requirements assist with licensing applications and apply legislative provisions to various business operators.

You have previous experience exercising discretion professionalism and confidentiality; interpreting policy and legislation; reviewing approving and declining applications; invoicing and reconciling costs; providing customer service in person over the phone and via email.

We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools: written examination standardized tests oral presentations interview(s) and reference checks.

Pay Grade: TE 16- TE 18

Salary Range: $1735.60- $2189.32Bi-Weekly
