Job Description
Job Title: Medical Assistant
Location: Susanville California
Employment Type: Full-Time Contract (6-9 months with potential for extension)
Schedule: Monday to Friday 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
Pay Range: $28.75 - $30.75 per hour
Position Overview
We are hiring a Medical Assistant (MA) to provide essential clinical support in a correctional healthcare setting located in Susanville CA. This is a full-time contract position with the opportunity for contract extension or permanent placement with full state benefits depending on availability.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer medication to patients under direct supervision of the Health Services Administrator
- Obtain monitor and record vital signs and patient conditions
- Prepare patients for exams procedures and treatments
- Assist nurses and physicians during physical exams and procedures
- Maintain medical records including filing labeling and organizing documentation
Required Qualifications
- Experience: At least 12 continuous months of direct patient care within the last 3 years in a public or private healthcare setting
- Certification: Must hold a valid MA certification from one of the following approved agencies (hard copy required):
- American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
- American Medical Certification Association (AMCA)
- American Medical Technologists (AMT)
- California Certifying Board of Medical Assistants (CCBMA)
- Multi-skilled Medical Certification Institute (MMCI)
- BLS Certification: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association
- Identification: Valid photo ID Drivers License or Passport
