Job Description

Position Overview

We are seeking a knowledgeable and customer-focused Collision Estimator to join our auto body shop team. The Collision Estimator is responsible for assessing vehicle damage after collisions preparing accurate repair estimates and acting as a liaison between customers insurance adjusters and our repair technicians. This role is crucial for ensuring a seamless customer experience and the efficient flow of repairs through the shop.

What youll do:

  • Greet customers listen to their concerns and perform thorough inspections of vehicle damage.
  • Document all damageincluding photosand create detailed estimates using estimating software (e.g. CCC ONE Mitchell or Audatex).
  • Explain repair estimates and insurance procedures to customers in clear empathetic terms.
  • Communicate and negotiate with insurance adjusters to ensure all repair costs are appropriately covered.
  • Update customers throughout the repair process and address any questions or concerns promptly.
  • Collaborate closely with technicians and parts staff to verify repair plans parts needs and labor requirements.
  • Revise estimates as needed for supplemental damage discovered during repairs.
  • Ensure all paperwork authorizations and payments are handled accurately and efficiently.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of insurance requirements industry standards and new vehicle technologies.
  • Uphold the shops quality safety and customer service standards.

What youll bring:

  • Prior experience in collision/damage estimating or auto body roles strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of industry estimating platforms (CCC Mitchell Audatex etc.).
  • Basic understanding of vehicle body construction repair processes and insurance workflows.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills; ability to explain technical details clearly.
  • Strong attention to detail organization skills and professionalism.
  • Ability to work under pressure while managing multiple estimates and deadlines.
  • Comfortable with computers and digital documentation.
  • Valid drivers license and clean driving record.
  • Reliable punctual and able to maintain a positive attitude in a team environment.
