John Paul College Frankston is a Catholic co-educational secondary school with a rich heritage in the traditions of the FCJ sisters and the Marianists. About the Role:

The Head of Middle School Wellbeing is a key leadership role within the College which is responsible for leading student wellbeing and the pastoral program. Reporting to the Deputy Principal Wellbeing this role is integral to fostering a child safe environment and promoting the Colleges values.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Model inspire and support staff and students with a focus on continually improving student learning and wellbeing outcomes.
  • Support and liaise with the Head of Counselling Services and Heads of Year (7 8 & 9) with ongoing behavioural/pastoral care/attendance and wellbeing concerns or issues.
  • Ensure consistent approaches to student wellbeing and management and lead the application of restorative practices throughout the College.
  • Lead and develop the Middle Pastoral Care Program in conjunction with the Heads of Year (7 8 & 9).
  • Assist with the planning and coordination of events.

    Key Selection Criteria:

    • A demonstrated understanding and commitment to the ethos of a Catholic school and its mission.
    • Up-to-date knowledge of wellbeing practices and procedures.
    • Knowledge of appropriate avenues and resources for seeking information to support students parents and staff.
    • Perseverance sensitivity compassion and patience in the face of complex and difficult situations.
    • A high level of discretion when handling confidential and sensitive information.
    • Current Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) registration.

    Position Details:

    • Commencing Term 4 2025 or later by negotiation.
    • POL4 with a time allowance: 0.5 FTE (22 / 44 periods per cycle).
    • This role is for a two-year term (the successful candidate will receive an ongoing contract for a teaching position).
