Job Description

Position Summary:


The Classroom Paraprofessional at GALS Ohio supports the classroom teacher in creating a positive
inclusive and academically focused environment. The paraprofessional plays a critical role in supporting
students individual needsacademically socially emotionally and behaviorallywhile promoting the
mission and values of GALS Ohio.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the teacher in implementing daily lesson plans classroom routines and instructional activities.
  • Provide academic support to students through small group instruction or one-on-one tutoring as directed.
  • Help maintain a safe clean and organized classroom environment.
  • Support students with special needs including accommodations modifications or behavioral supports as outlined in IEPs or 504 plans.
  • Monitor student behavior and provide positive reinforcement to promote engagement and appropriate conduct.
  • Supervise students during non-instructional times including lunch recess hallway transitions and arrival/dismissal.
  • Assist in preparation of instructional materials and classroom organization.
  • Participate in professional development and staff meetings.
  • Maintain confidentiality in all student-related matters.
  • Promote a culture of empowerment leadership physical wellness and academic success aligned with the mission of GALS Ohio.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associates degree or higher preferred.
  • Must meet federal and state requirements for paraprofessionals (e.g. completed at least 48 college credit hours or passed a paraprofessional assessment).
  • Prior experience working with children in a school or youth-focused setting preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with staff students and families.
  • Strong communication organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Passion for working in a girl-centered educational environment and supporting whole-child development.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift and carry instructional materials or assist students as needed.
  • Willingness to support students in both academic and physical education settings.
