POSITION SUMMARY:
The Graduate Assistant Coach will support the Head Coach in all aspects of coaching including planning and conducting practices preparing for games and competitions and fostering a positive and safe environment. This role is vital in helping our student athletes achieve their full potential both on and off the mat.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist the Head Coach in planning organizing and conducting practice sessions.
- Support the development and implementation of game and competition strategies.
- Provide instruction during practice time and help with pregame warmups being able to hit to infield/outfield and throw front toss.
- Help ensure the safety and well-being of all team members during practices games and competitions.
- Foster a positive inclusive and supportive team culture.
- Assist in the recruitment and retention of talented student athletes.
- Participate in team events fundraisers and community engagement activities.
- Monitor academic progress and support student athletes in balancing their academic and athletic commitments.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to hear well enough to communicate effectively with co-workers vendors and athletes.
- Frequently convey detailed or important coaching instructions and ideas accurately clearly and quickly.
- Ability to hit and pitch during practice/pregame.
- The capability to demonstrate and instruct during practices and games.
- Strong visual and auditory abilities to quickly and accurately assess performances to help recruit and evaluate during camps/clinics.
WORK SCHEDULE:
- The Graduate Assistant Coach is required to work according to athletic game schedules meetings and practices. This assistant coach schedule does not operate on a traditional work schedule.
TRAVEL:
- Travel is required for away games and competitions.

Qualifications
- Bachelors degree required.
- Supports NGUs mission statement and core values commitment to a Christian lifestyle and character in keeping with a biblical model.
- Affirm an understanding of the Baptist Faith & Message 2000
- Affirm understanding of the Universitys Statement on Human Flourishing
- Agree to abide by the employee handbooks including community standards agreements.
