Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Graduate Assistant Coach will support the Head Coach in all aspects of coaching including planning and conducting practices preparing for games and competitions and fostering a positive and safe environment. This role is vital in helping our student athletes achieve their full potential both on and off the mat.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist the Head Coach in planning organizing and conducting practice sessions.
  • Support the development and implementation of game and competition strategies.
  • Provide instruction during practice time and help with pregame warmups being able to hit to infield/outfield and throw front toss.
  • Help ensure the safety and well-being of all team members during practices games and competitions.
  • Foster a positive inclusive and supportive team culture.
  • Assist in the recruitment and retention of talented student athletes.
  • Participate in team events fundraisers and community engagement activities.
  • Monitor academic progress and support student athletes in balancing their academic and athletic commitments.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to hear well enough to communicate effectively with co-workers vendors and athletes.
  • Frequently convey detailed or important coaching instructions and ideas accurately clearly and quickly.
  • Ability to hit and pitch during practice/pregame.
  • The capability to demonstrate and instruct during practices and games.
  • Strong visual and auditory abilities to quickly and accurately assess performances to help recruit and evaluate during camps/clinics.

WORK SCHEDULE:

  • The Graduate Assistant Coach is required to work according to athletic game schedules meetings and practices. This assistant coach schedule does not operate on a traditional work schedule.

TRAVEL:

  • Travel is required for away games and competitions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree required.
  • Supports NGUs mission statement and core values commitment to a Christian lifestyle and character in keeping with a biblical model.
  • Affirm an understanding of the Baptist Faith & Message 2000
  • Affirm understanding of the Universitys Statement on Human Flourishing
  • Agree to abide by the employee handbooks including community standards agreements.
