Job Summary
This is a Community Service Work Study student employment position. Applicants must have Federal Work Study funds in their Financial Aid package. The Digital Archival Assistant will involve managing a large volume of digitized historical records. The historical records to which the assistant will be exposed include legal documents environmental studies maps financial records and other historical references. The digital records must be optimized which means that metadata must be embedded into them naming conventions must be applied and they must be reconciled with the inventory matrix. Other records exist in paper format and need to be scanned. The assistant will scan paper documents and carefully curate digital content. Reports on site to Cesar Lujan and on campus to Program Manager for Community Partnerships. No experience in records management is required. Training on software applications editing tools and technical equipment will be provided. These records are confidential and must remain on city premises; therefore this position is in-person and remote work is not available. Up to 20 hours per week. Monday to Friday. A minimum of two workdays with each day lasting between 4 to 8 hours. Flexible workdays available upon demonstrating satisfactory nonsupervisory performance. Location: The Portland Building 1120 SW 5th Ave Portland OR 97204 Note: Student may not earn more than $2000 total in this position which equates to 118 hours worked between Fall and Spring semester.
Minimum Qualifications
Must have Federal Work Study fund in Financial Aid Package (contact with questions). Be able to maintain confidentiality. Demonstrate organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy. Demonstrate the ability to work independently.
Preferred Qualifications
Open to all majors. Records management serves as the foundation for careers in technology law real estate library sciences education business and government.
