Job Description

Overview

The Plant EHS Manager position exists to provide leadership and technical guidance in managing the EHS responsibilities for the Turlock Facility. This position develops strategies and programs aimed towards continuous improvement of EHS performance in alignment with Evergreen Packagings EHS objectives. This person is also responsible for keeping the facility team engaged in the areas of productivity quality safety and training. Must have a strong knowledge in Manufacturing team development and training.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

1.) Responsible for maintaining a world class safety EHS Program for the entire Turlock facility.

  1. Maintain and improve EHS programs consistent with corporate and OHSA guidelines.
  2. Complete timely and thorough Incident Investigations and Corrective Action Planning.
  3. Communicate program results to the plant team through creative presentations in the plant wide meetings.
  4. Create sustainable systems that integrate EHS functions into the daily activities of the facility.

2.) Manage Workers Compensation reporting and costs.

  1. Maintain low WC costs by eliminating injuries closing open cases in a timely manner reporting injuries to TPA by deadlines and auditing system costs.
  2. Develop strong relationship with treating physicians and local TPA adjuster.

3.) Facilitate Safe Behavior Observation Process

  1. Reduce injuries by maintaining a highly effective peer-to-peer behavioral observation process.
  2. Encourage 100% quality participation through stimulating and rewarding programs.
  3. Create and maintain databases to provide relevant and timely information to the facility.
  4. Focus crews on trends of unsafe behavior in their area to highlight and correct prior to an incident.

4.) Annual EHS Training

  1. Provide stimulating and effective training for all facility team members.
  2. Ensure information is retained through post-training quizzes and continued education in team meetings.
  3. Develop and maintain databases to document and report facility attendance.

5.) Direct Safety and Satellite Teams towards the facilitys strategic goals and objectives.

  1. Utilize EHS/Lead Team meetings to set the facilitys goals and report on correct action plans from incidents and the annual Key Element Survey.
  2. Develop effective teams that identify track and resolve issues pertinent to their team function.

6.) Knowledge of the SQF System.

7.) Must be able to train effectively and have strong presentation skills.

8.) Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

9.) Ability and willingness to work in excess of 40 hours per week with no notice.

10.) Ability to pay close attention to detail prioritize multiple tasks and possess excellent follow-up skills.

11.) Demonstrate effective instructional design skills.

12.) Demonstrate effective technical writing research and development skills.

13.) Demonstrate proficient skills in Microsoft Office and other software applications specific to position.

14.) Effectively participate in Job Task and Training Needs Analysis process.

15.) Establish and maintain credibility.

16.) Effectively analyze course materials and participant information as required.

17.) Assure preparation of instruction site.

18.) Effectively control the learning environment.

Qualifications

Education Skills and/or Experience Required at Entry:

  1. Bachelors degree in business computer science EHS or equivalent.
  2. 2 years of EHS experience.
  3. Experience with team based work groups.

The compensation range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. At Pactiv Evergreen it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $83400-$139000.
