Job Description

Description

The Development Coordinator coordinates and approves all actions associated with preliminary subdivision review development permits culvert permits and floodplain compliance. Work involves providing assistance to the public county and municipal boards other departments and staff as needed in area involving floodplain land records permit determinations and ordinance administration. Employee is responsible for maintaining a variety of files and databases as well as entering permit points for addressing in the county. This position also conducts inspections pertaining to floodplain complaints and Lake Ray Roberts Land Use Ordinance compliance.

Examples of Duties

Review Application for Development Permit (ADP) for completeness and compliance to the Denton County Subdivision Rules and Regulations.

Review site plan for accurate information showing lot lines setbacks and building lines where applicable. Ensure no encroachment of any setback by new construction. Review placement of structure to make sure location is outside given floodplain and require elevation certificate where applicable. Determine that plans and specifications comply with applicable rules and regulations.

Responsible for the administration of the Lake Ray Roberts Land Use Ordinance (LRR); including reviewing LRR applications for completeness writing correspondence to LRR Commission and general public as required updating LRR Planning Calendar ensuring quorum of LRR meetings advertising public hearings and sending certified letters to residents within 200 feet of proposed LRR requests.

Applies for 911 addresses for all new construction not located in an addressed subdivision.

Attends Development Support Committee (DSC) meetings and records DSC voting results when Senior Development Coordinator is out of the office.

Coordinates with Public Works Engineering Environmental Health and Fire Marshall Department on Commercial ADP permits.

Compiles weekly money reports and deposits received by the department and submits both to the Treasurers Office.

Assists in the yearly financial reports of all money taken by all Public Works departments.

Interfaces regularly with GIS Department regarding GIS map issues/updates.

Performs field work including inspections and responding or investigating complaints.

Regular and punctual attendance is required.

Performs other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma or GED and a minimum five years of related experience in reviewing subdivision and/or construction plans; or an equivalent combination of education and related experience required.

Associates Degree preferred.

Membership in Texas Floodplain Managers Association and certification as Certified Floodplain Manager or the ability to obtain in one year is preferred. Membership in American Planning Association and AICP certification preferred.

Possession of a valid drivers license. Must be able to obtain a State of Texas drivers license within 90 days of employment.
