Role Responsibilities:
- Execute comprehensive mainframe testing activities including system integration and user acceptance testing.
- Develop and maintain test scripts and scenarios based on business requirements.
- Identify document and manage defects using appropriate defect tracking tools.
- Collaborate with development and business teams to ensure smooth integration of applications.
- Perform performance and load testing to ensure application efficiency.
- Conduct data validation to ensure accuracy and reliability of data processed.
- Execute regression testing after system modifications or enhancements.
- Participate in reviews of test plans cases and scripts to improve quality assurance processes.
- Report progress and test results to stakeholders regularly.
- Provide support for production issues and perform root cause analysis.
- Implement test automation tools to enhance testing efficiency.
- Understand and adhere to industry standards and best practices in testing.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures during testing activities.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the testing team.
- Train and mentor junior testing staff as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- 3 years of experience in mainframe testing.
- Proficiency in defect management tools such as JIRA or Bugzilla.
- Strong knowledge of mainframe environments including COBOL and JCL.
- Experience in test automation tools such as Selenium or QTP.
- Solid understanding of SQL for database testing.
- Familiarity with Agile testing methodologies.
- Experience in ETL testing and understanding of data warehousing concepts.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication skills both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently while being a team player.
- Familiarity with performance testing tools.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Willingness to adapt and learn new technologies.
- Certifications in software testing (e.g. ISTQB) are a plus.
